Tea Bags Investigation

In early November 2017 Research Methods Exercise students from Edinburgh University buried green and red bush tea bags at different locations (forest, peat bog, arable farm) to explore how different soils affect the biodegradation.

In February the students returned to each site to collect the tea bags and reported their findings to the Tea Bag Index project. Currently, they are investigating the changes in molecular composition by using NMR spectroscopy and high resolution mass spectrometry.
